Back seat rider

The locals quickly ushered Judy Ferguson and I onto the largest camel. The ride is fun but the big thrills are not with the take-off but the landing.
Stout-hearted men give the ladies the front seat.
The back seat was fine on the way down as Judy would cushion the fall if needed!

Jock and Jennie show how to do it!

The tour has very little free time so keeping this blog updated will be slow. Coming up next is the dinner and belly dancing with our Arab hosts who know the value of a cold beer in the desert at night!

Camel rides!

Our arabs hosts were wonderful.
The camel was a smoother ride as the convoy of ten , bounced over th
e dunes in hurry for a late Friday start as if to use a pocket knife metaphor to find our way to the Bedouin camp.

What is the difference between a belly dancer and a camel?
Two beers!

Dubai shopping vs Bedouin camp

So much to see and do in a Dubai shopping mall.
Why bother cleaning your own fish tank or travelling to a Zoo?
The best thing is to have them adjacent when you shop for cheese and want to educate the kids!

However the building and develöpment is another issue, as the odd umlat enters when typing on a European keyboard.

Being such a tax free place, how much is that dogfish in the window?

Early days in desert haze

Days 1 &2
In the sun and sand as guests of the UAE in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. After a short night tour of Abu Dhabi we settled in aloft at our hotel by 2:30am local time after a 14 hour flight from Sydney.
The humidity fogged our glasses within seconds at a cool 33 degrees from a top of 42. After a restless 5 or 6 hours we emerged from our rooms ready for a 13 hour tour of Dubai and the Beduin village as preparation for delivery back to Abu Dhabi airport for another 6 hour plus leg of the journey to Frankfurt. My longest day! Oh for a shower and a change of clothes as we felt sandy and sweaty. But it was all worth it, as the next few entries reveal our desert adventures in the UAE.
